Seven airports in UP to be developed by AAI
On Monday the home state of civil aviation minister Ajit Singh confirmed that seven airports will be developed in Uttar Pradesh by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under an agreement it signed with the state government.
The AAI would develop airports at Meerut, Moradabad, Faizabad and new civil enclaves in the IAF airports at Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly and Kanpur, under a Memorandum of Understanding between AAI and the UP government, as its government’s goal to provide air connectivity to regional or remote centres. The airports at Meerut, Moradabad and Faizabad have already been handed over to the AAI by Uttar Pradesh government. The state has also agreed to provide land and other logistical support for establishing the new enclaves at the military airports in Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly and Kanpur. The move was part of the government’s plans to develop airports in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, as said by an official spokesperson.
