Sewage problem for Chennai residential properties

sewage_systemSewage is becoming a severe concern for the residents of various homes and apartments in Chennai. Residents of Mogappair West are affected badly as many of their stretches will be inundated with sewage water because of the absence of an underground sewage system.

Residents fear that their underground water is becoming contaminated because of the sewage overflowing from septic tanks.

Residents of those affected areas are complaining that the construction of underground sewage system in the Vellala Street, Karnan Street and Sathalwar Street is getting delayed due to the negligence of the Metrowater officials.

They are worried about the situation will happen during the monsoon. At that time the apartment owners had to pay Rs 650 per lorry of removed sewage. If the private contractors fail to visit this place, then all the stretches will be inundated with sewage water.

The resident’s association had approached the Madras high court to speed up the project. Though the high court had instructed Metrowater to execute the project quickly, the project is getting held up due to unknown reason.

Metrowater officials said that they will resolve the problem soon.
