Slow construction of Roads in Koraput creates trouble for residents
The delay in execution of the construction of an 18-km Kakrigumma-Laxmipur road that is part of Ranchi-Vijayawada corridor has become a nightmare for commuters in the district.
Only 40% of the Rs 36-crore road project has been completed so far. The project started in February 2010 was supposed to be completed by February 2012.
The problem has been heightened because the 18 km road has been dug up for widening and construction of culverts. A small mistake by drivers can prove fatal.
The work was awarded to ARSS Infrastructure Project Ltd and two years ago the road was dug up for repair. But this resulted in potholes.
People fear if the construction of a bridge at Kusumguda is not completed before the rain then even a small shower can cut off Rayagada from Koraput.
