South Corporation attaches accounts of property tax defaulters
Civic authorities in Delhi have taken a strong stand against property tax defaulters. The South corporation has attached the bank accounts of 114 properties, which have been defaulters.
People and organisations with the highest amount of pending payments have been targeted by the authorities. Most of them had not paid taxes for years despite repeated warnings. According to reports, Omaxe Square of the developer Omaxe Limited owes the corporation Rs 95 lakh and it is being considered as one of the biggest defaulters.
An official said the total due of all attached properties is almost Rs 10 crore. Authorities have warned that if the taxes are not paid even this time, then the corporation will auction the properties.
The highest number of these properties lie in the Central Zone, followed by South and Nazafgarh zones.
