Stalled Infrastructure Projects in Tamil Nadu to Take Off
Many infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu have been pending from a long time. Time has come for this to change, thanks to the formation of a new government at the centre. But it’s not just the central government that’s keen on pushing for infrastructure development in TN. Even the state government is motivated to execute projects, signalling a good time for the state’s residents.
Apart from the pending projects, this change in political environment is expected to usher new infrastructure projects. Just early this week, a contract was signed for improving the Thirumayam-Manamadurai national highway. This is the first contract that has been signed in Tamil Nadu for a national highway (NH) project after one and a half years. The Thanjavur-Pudukottai national highway is yet another project that is expected to be kick started soon.
The different NH projects are expected to finish early with many orders already issued to ensure quick and smooth execution of these projects and the launch of new ones. Land acquisition has already started with attempts of resolving them in a pro-active manner.
These projects were earlier on hold mainly because of the various issues between the state and central governments. But after Mr. Gadkari’s meeting, a harmonious rapport is expected between the governments, helping the state obtain early contracts for projects that cost a total of Rs. 2,500 crore.
