State govt asks PMC to speed up metro project

Metro workPune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been asked by the state government to speed up the metro project work. Earlier, Union government had asked the civic body to expedite the work.

The civic body has been asked by the state govt to register the special purpose vehicle (SPV) with immediate effect and submit the proposal of route-one from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate for government’s approval.

A committee sat recently which reviewed the process for implementation of the project initiated by the civic body. With the set up of this project the residential properties in the vicinity will have a better demand.

The proposal of the Metro route has been asked to be submitted at the earliest for the approval of the state cabinet. After the state govt approves it, it will be forwarded to the central government.

The civic body has earlier also been directed to speed up the work adding that PMC has been asked to appoint the officer of special duty for the project with immediate effect.
