Tata Housing CEO: ‘Online’ will soon be a fast growing channel for property sales
During the course of a recent interview with Business Standard, Tata Housing Managing Director and CEO Brotin Banerjee has projected that the ‘online’ platform will apparently become a preferred platform for property transactions in the coming years.
Banerjee said that, over the period of next 3-5 years, at least 30 percent of the sales of Tata housing will likely come via the online platform. Banerjee’s projections are seemingly rooted in the fact that Tata Housing sells currently sells three or four apartments every week through the online medium.
Banerjee’s projections with regard to the expected rise in popularity of the online platform for property transactions in the near future stems from the fact that the barriers between buyers and sellers are being increasing broken down by the e-commerce arena.
Banerjee said that e-commerce is not just limited to purchase of apparel, gadgets and white goods; even houses are being purchased by consumers over the Internet.
Noting that Tata Housing is “in the process of changing the way real estate has been sold,” Banerjee said: “We expect online to emerge as one of the fastest growing channels for real estate sales.”
