Telangana CM to add Skyscrapers to Hyderabad

No Comments Sub Category:Hyderabad,Realty News Posted On: Nov 19, 2014

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of newly formed state, Telangana has announced to add skyscrapers to the skyline of Hyderabad in the area of historic Husaain Sagar. He believes that this will help in improving the overall appeal and image of the city.

A review meeting was held by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his wish to add skyscrapers in Hyderabad. The development is planned to be implemented around the historic Husaain Sagar area of the city which will create a better image and appearance of the city, he believes.

Steps taken:

  • Apart from the review meeting held, the CM has directed officials to locate various viable locations and places of land to be allocated for the sites for the building.
  • The officials have also been directed to drain the lake waters into the nearby nalas during the summer that can help in creating a freshwater body which is also a part of the proposed plan.
  • The land particulars and related information must be procured to test the sites for the building of 60-100 stories structures in the area.

Rao also added that Skyscrapers are a vital factor representing city life. Many global cities like Singapore have such skyscrapers that define the city’s skyline.

The government is yet to decide on whether to allow private sector into these structures for building them and whether to lease them out for office spaces, hotels, entertainment activities etc. as well as other miscellaneous purposes.

Releasing of polluted water and drainage into the nearby canals will be stopped in order to begin with the cleaning process.

Oppositions: Floor leader of BJP, K. Laxman voiced his opposition against this proposal citing reasons that Hyderabad is a city that lacks many basic amenities and such a proposition is ridiculous. Moreover, the court had already banned any concrete constructions in and around the Lake area and thus the government should first focus on providing civic amenities rather than think of making such structures. People are reported to have lost their lives being swept away by flood or falling into open drains which points out the urgent need for focusing on improving these sectors.
