Tenant verification mandatory
Tenant verification will be mandatory from now onwards. All the house owners should register their tenant’s name and address at the nearest police station.
This rule will be enforced under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Additional commissioner of police in Bangalore has given complete power to the police officers to collect tenant information from the land owners.
Also important rule is that, if in case the tenants are of foreign nationals; the land owners should make sure to provide a copy of passport and documents which support the purpose of stay.
