The Ghaziabad Metro Pact will start off next week
On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet sanctioned the draft MOU which was to be signed between Ghaziabad Development Authority and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on the matters of extension of Metro in Ghaziabad. The corridor which is about 8.41 kilometres long and elevated will link the Dilshad Garden of Delhi with New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, will have 7 stations and is in hope to be completed by the month of June in the year 2017.
The major share of the total cost of the project will be incurred by the state government and its various departments. They include the GDA, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, UP housing and Development Board and the UP State Industrial Development Corporation. All these four agencies have decided to spend a lot of money together on this project.
For the second phase, there was a detailed project report prepared by the GDA in the year 2012. After this, in the year 2013, in the month of March, the state government had approved of all the costs which were to be incurred by the various agencies. This year in April, the GDA has sent the draft of Memorandum of Understanding to Lucknow for approval of the state government.
