Troubles for Uppal’s Marble Arch in Chandigarh
Uppal’s Marble Arch, a real estate big-player has ran into troubled waters in Chandigarh. Troubles arose after complaints from a couple emerged that the company had failed to deliver the apartments at the scheduled date. Hearing to the complaints The district consumer forum has asked the company to pay a sum of Rs 1 lakh for the delay in delivering the possession of a flat to the couple. The company has been ordered to pay Rs 5,000 as litigation costs along with 12 percent interest on the amount which was deposited by the couple Pawan Kumar Goel and Anju Goel, residents of Sector 4, Panchkula earlier.
The complainants claimed that there has , a delay of 13 months in the possession of the apartment from the date committed even after making a payment of Rs 1,42,25,700 to the company. They had applied for allotment of a residential apartment on 2006 in a housing project that was launched by Uppal’s Marble Arch, They had also deposited an amount of Rs 16,92,750 along with the application form. Both the parties entered into Apartment Buyers Agreement on December 2006. The company in its defense has said that the delay was due to circumstances beyond their control.
