Two labourers killed at repairing building
MHADA started repairing the cessed Laxmi apartment in Byculla. A part of the under repairing building has collapsed and two labourers were killed in the incident.
According to the fire brigade department, the Laxmi apartment on N M Joshi Road is more than 50 years old.
It is a four storey building which was being repaired by the MHADA. A portion of the wooden balcony and the adjacent wall on the first floor of the building collapsed.
MHADA has declared about 16302 apartments as cessed building and the BMC has also declared 52 municipal building in dangerous conditions.
According to a survey by the Municipality 197 privately owned buildings in Mumbai are also in a highly critical conditions.
