Two roads in north Bengal are set for upgrade
A project for upgrading two roads in North Bengal, which will connect Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, has been approved by the state Cabinet. The total estimated cost for this project will be INR 1377.55 crore and Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund the entire cost. North Bengal Development minister Gautam Deb informed about the same.
He said, “Advancement of these roads will spontaneously enhance connectivity in these areas, gear up trade and lead to employment generation. In fact, once expanded, these two roads will benefit not only India but all the tree neighboring countries too.”
One raod will start from Panitanki at Nepal border, will cross via Bagdogra and reach Fulbari at Bangladesh border. The second road will initiate from Joygaon near Bhutan border and reach at its final destination, which is Changrabandha bordering Bangladesh.
