Unauthorized buildings continue to crop in Ahmedabad
The unauthorized buildings continue to mushroom in Ahmedabad. Even though the deadline for regularizing unauthorized buildings has expired, the spread of these buildings is increasing in a rapid pace.
This clearly shows that Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has failed badly to take respective steps to pause the spread and growth of unauthorized buildings.
Even after the collapse of Saudagar Ni Pol in Kalupur previous year, AMC is still not serious about finding right solution for this issue.
To regularize the unauthorized constructions, under Gujarat Regularization of Unauthorized Development Act (GRUDA), the state government had set March 28, 2011 as deadline. According to the recent report, around 2,000 illegal constructions have been raised in six different zones of Ahmedabad even after the deadline.
Till date AMC has removed only 17 percent of these unauthorized constructions in Ahmedabad.
