Underground plans made by the state for Metro II line
The people of Mumbai may have to wait for the next 8 years for the next Metro line. On Wednesday, the state government made plans to build the Metro route from Charkop to Mankhund via Bandra underground. It has been extended to Charkop end to Dahisar. In case the new plan firms up, the current deal with Reliance Infrastructure on matters on construction of an elevated line could eventually be scrapped.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mister Prithviraj Chavan announced that the state had already asked RITES to organize a study of the new route. It will be entirely underground and will be on the changes extension up to Dahisar. He gave away his vital piece of information in the state legislative assembly.
According to sources, the project which has been pushed back by 5 years will be delayed because of the changes. There will be the emergence of a new plan will begin with new studies, tenders as well as designs. Rites has been working towards the preparation of a fresh detailed project report for the Dahisar-CharkopBandra-Mankhurd Metro line.
