Unhygienic environment of Rock Garden puts off visitors

Chandigarh-  The famous Rock Garden is currently a true example of the false promises made by authorities to provide with best ambiance and facilities. Tourists are welcomed with piles of debris, animals faeces and garbage strewn all over the place, especially in the pathways.
For enhancing the beauty of the garden , many interlinked waterfalls and pools were constructed which is now turned into garbage bin. The administration is not taking any actions to clean even the water bodies from long time where pan masala packets, empty bottles, sachets of eatables etc have gathered.

Both national and foreign visitors have registered  numerous complaints to the Director and creator of Rock Garden, Nek Chand. In spite of his efforts to resolve this matter, authorities did not pay any heed.

Bislim Goxhufi, a German national appreciated the beauty and the concept of this garden but was highly disappointed with the maintenance part. Albert Patrick, a Belgium national had a good mind set for this garden but it changed when he visited it.

This garden is taken care by the Rock Garden Society with UT home secretary as chairman and UT superintendent engineer  as secretary of the society. The revenue generated by entry fee of the garden is not utilised for the maintenance of the garden.

The authorities defended themselves by claiming that the garden is regularly kept clean with the help of 20 staffs members.
