Union Minister NitinGadkaricontains five roads under NH-13 in Arunachal Pradesh
NitinGadkari, Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister has shown green signal to the idea of bringing 5 existing roads in Arunachal Pradesh under National Highway-13. The road routes, which will fall under NH-13 after Gadkari’s approval are Joram-Koloriang, Pasighat-Yingkiong via Mariyang, Meka-Anini, Hawacamp-Hawai via Hayuliang and Hoj-Papu via Yupia.
AloLibang, Parliamentary Secretary for PWD Minister stated the approval was made last week only. Libang appreciated Gadkari’s take on this and hoped that this new step would not only accelerate road work but will also empower growth and employment. This approval is certainly a ray of hope towards road route development in Arunachal Pradesh, which has lowest road density. Libang also showed optimism towards fund flow from the ministry. He stated that entire department is hopeful that the minister will ensure smooth inflow of funds to complete the road project effectively.
Looking at the larger picture, it clearly states that north east has poor road area. Country’s total road length is 46.90 lakh km as on March 31, 2011, which makes average density of 21.6 km (per 100 sqkm) but NE has only 21,555 km NHs.
