Unnecessary expenditure over Open Drainage

In Chennai city nearly thousands of residents surviving in an apartment are facing health hazards due to the open drainage near the apartment in Dargah Road in Pallavaram. The survey has found that the apartment is owned by the Chitra Township and nearly 182 apartments are raised up in this township. It is claimed that the owners of every individual apartment had paid Rs. 30,000 as the water supply and the drainage maintenance charges and the amount collected was nearing an estimation of half a crore. Only Rs.13.5 lakhs was paid to the city municipality commission for the construction of proper drainage systems. The builders have claimed to be misusing the money paid by the property buyers.

The grey water suspension from the kitchen and the bathrooms were promised to have a separate drainage line to avoid the open drainage problem. RTI Act by the residents proves that the same amount was paid by the during March 2007. The compliant has been lodged against this continuous overflow of the grey water from underground spreading a severe health hazard. After nearly 4 years the money has been paid for the municipality for the construction of drainage in Chitra Township, Phase I, on Dargah Road in Pallavaram. This has resulted in the unhygienic conditions surrounding the apartments.
