Altogether 192 beneficiaries were allotted newly-built houses at Isopur on the outskirts of Patna under the scheme for urban poor. These houses were being constructed for the BPL families in urban areas.

The CM announced that over 50,000 houses will be built in 28 cities of the state and those would not be a part of the housing units under Indira Awas Yojna.

The houses are being built with the fund provided equally by the Centre and the state government. Each flat is constructed on 320 sq ft having one bedroom, small hall, kitchen, balcony and toilet. The four-floor building is divided into 12 blocks with each housing 16 flats.

Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) is the execution agency and Bihar Urban Development Authority (Buda) is the nodal agency of the project. The entire project is being carried out under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
