“Wake up and Clean up Kochi” campaign to Succeed

Kochi is fighting for a great cause of keeping the city clean in every spheres of the society. Every residents as well as school children have joined hands to support the “Wake up and Clean up Kochi” campaign of Times of India.

In various socio-interactive sessions that were held in Kochi to spread the message of treating the city against wastes, every residents and students sought to participate actively in the noble campaign. There will be various methods of waste treatments throughout the city that will help in waste management. K Vaduki, the executive director of Suchitwa Mission says that either the citizen should take the responsibility or simply sit back and blame. It is not a favor that the citizens are rendering to the society but it is a favor to their own health and themselves. This will surely lead to a healthy future and cleaner society. 18 students promised to take active part in the city cleaning process, at a seminar that took place at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala.

After having a good interactive session with the school students, Vasuki realized the inefficiency of waste management system as a mere cultural propaganda. He even felt that this campaign had no issues regarding technological or financial issues but the main drawback was in the attitude of the society.

The students were vehemently encouraged by Vasuki to take the responsibility of creating a social awareness and carrying out a waste removal program. They have a plan to segregate dry and wet wastes while non-degradable wastes are planned to be sent for recycling treatment. She even addressed to the residents that the government fail to take sufficient measur0es to ignite the effect of waste management treatment among the citizens.

She even requested the residents to come forward and take the initial step towards cleanliness by treating the household wastes. She says that the government can only awaken the citizens while the basic step towards keeping the society clean is the primary duty of the citizens. There has to be full support from the residents to make this happen successfully.
