Water crisis in Chennai is increasing

Water crisis_in_ApartmentThe bore wells and pumps have gone dry in Chennai and other areas of Tamil Nadu. And the water supply to hospitals, universities, shops and residences have been cut off as almost 70% of the private and Metro water tankers have been stopped supply because of the fuel crunch. Most private water supply agencies have said that they have reduced the operations of tanker water supply.

Most of the residents in Anna Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Adyar, Porur and Guindy have started ringing up local Metro water offices after private suppliers refused to provide water tankers.

Thangam Agencies, a leading water tanker service in the city has said that due to the fuel crunch only 30% tanks are running. The fuel crunch has also punctured the movement of vehicles transporting bubble top water cans, lakhs of which are sold across the city every day.

Residents of many houses and apartment complexes in Chennai along the coastal stretch from Tiruvanmiyur to Sholinganallur depend on the private water supply for drinking water as well as for day to day work.
