No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Health,Municipality Posted On: Jul 30, 2012
The Parliamentary committee has decided to summon officials of at least six Indian central ministries to seek their views to find ways to check water pollution.

The Parliamentary committee has decided to summon the officials as  the subject is not restricted to one ministry.
According to the Parliamentary committee  member Public Accounts Committee, officials of Ministries of Water Resources, Agriculture, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Sanitation and Drinking Water have been asked to find an appropriate solution to the problem.
The Comptroller and Auditor General have found major irregularities in  implementation of programs to control pollution.
The water bodies are in alarming condition in 14 major and 55 minor rivers as only 10 percent of sewage water  is treated before being discharged into water bodies.
