West Bengal CM stern on her rules against forceful land acquistion

The central government had stated that they are trying to ensure certain rules and regulations in the Land Acquisition Act which can make the Act more investor friendly as well as benefit the farmers. Making a statement on this issue, West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee stressed on saying that she will not allow any kind of forceful acquisition of land to set industries in West Bengal. This has been a sigh of relief for the farmers who reside in Haldia, because most of their chief occupation is agriculture.

During the announcement of the proposed IT hub and industrial park that is about to be constructed in Haldia, Midnapur, the Chief Minster made the aforesaid statement. She further continued that they have announced on setting up the IT hub and industrial park at Haldia, however they will not acquire any land required for the construction of this IT hub and industrial park through forceful acquisitions.

People are already aware about the Singur issue that led the way to many troubles for forceful land acquisitions. Mamata Banerjee has always been stern against any kind of forceful land acquisition. Yet again through her statement she made it clear about her decisions.
