West Bengal Government Project Gears up Rupees 600 crore projects

The West Bengal government has now come up with proposals for projects worth Rupees 600 crore since the time the elections have come to an end. The projects have clearly focused on food parks, gems and jewellery.

14 plots have been approved of for providing employment to about 20,000 people. This was declared by the Finance Minister of the State, Amit Mitra after he had finished attending a Cabinet Committee on industrial reconstruction.

There were 5 companies out of 32 who were offered 5000 square feet of land for the construction of James and Jewellery Park. This would be located in the Horwah district of Ankurhati near Domzur. There would be another park set up in the same area.

Applicants have also reached the state government from different companies such as Sugar and Spice which would be set up in the Sankrail Food Park in the district of Howrah. This would be a Phase-3 project.

For the production of fodder and food for animals, a new project is about to come to existence at the North 24 Paraganas district under the Rishi Bankim Industrial Park at Naihati. According to Mitra, a Mega Food Park would be constructed at Kharagpur by the Kishore Biyani Group under Vidyasagar Industrial Park.

The project is said to provide employment to around 15,000 people and benefit around 1.35 lakh farmers since 60 acres of land has been provided with.
