Widening work to start
Terming it as a black spot on his ministry, Union minister for road transport Nitin Gadkari had promised to complete the widening of Jaipur-Gurgaon national highway-8 by 2015. But his assurances are facing impediments in the absence of land availability to carry out construction.
According to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), land possession remains a key challenge in completing the project on time. The state government, which has blamed the agencies for delay, is yet to hand over land in many patches. IN Kotputli, the government was to hand over 112 hectares of land to concessionaire for which notification was issued in June 2009.
Awarding of land was initiated in 2010, which has prolonged till June 2014. They said that they received land in 22 pieces but was expected to complete the work in one go. In road construction this is not possible. The widening of the Jaipur-Gurgaon national highway is urgently required in order to meet the problems that are continuously arising regarding connectivity. It is being expected that the work will start soon enough.
