Zero Garbage Project: Oppn hits out at PMC
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was hit out by Opposition leaders for allowing an NGO for implementing a Zero Garbage Project.
To implement the Zero Garbage Project in 20 cities, the standing committee has approved the proposal to allot Rs 1.48 crore to NGO Janwani.
BJP corporator, Shirnath Bhimale has opposed the decision by saying that garbage collection and disposal is the responsibility of the civic body and not the NGO’s.
Bhimale also said that, citizens are already paying tax to the PMC and it is unacceptable to pay extra for the NGO.
With the help of corporators, NGOs and private firms, the civic body has already started a pilot in Katraj.
