Punjab government is in a mad rush regularizing all the illegal colonies only because of the upcoming elections.
Also, the government is forced to arrange land for the slum dwellers.
According to the recent study, the high cost of housing for the poor has become a major concern.
Therefore real estate in Punjab has claimed to be the rarest commodity a poor can afford for. This has intern lead to the poor grabbing the government land illegally.
