Rise of price in quality wood
Forestry Innovation Investment, a Government-funded agency of British Columbia, sees immense opportunity for sale of high quality forest wood in India for home and commercial applications. As a body that works collaboratively with industry trade associations and other levels of government including Government of Canada, FII seeks to promote its wide variety of forest wood in India.
Phillipa Sanderson, Director, Market Initiatives, Forestry Innovation Investment, said that in the past two years, since its presence in India with a representative office, it has begun to make entry into Indian wood traders and furniture makers.
And this would only get bigger as the message of availability of quality wood at competitive prices percolates. British Columbia has a vast forest cover, larger than the geographical spread of France and it promotes sale of forest wood to other markets through a sustainable forest management approach.
The competitive price for quality wood has been seen rising these days. This has been an outcome mainly because of the fact that the wood is not available. Availability is one of the main reasons why the price has raised.
