BIAL planning to introduce mobile check-in service
The commuters can get boarding pass on their mobiles and they can directly board to their flight. The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) is planning to introduce mobile check-in service and are in talks with airline companies for testing the system.
At an interactive meeting organized by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) on Monday, Marcel Hungerbuehler, President, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said. BIAL already has a two-dimensional bar code technology, which is in compliance with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and planning to introduce mobile check-in service, making it the first airport in the country to adopt this system.
After successfully testing it with the airlines and security agencies it would be implemented. If successful, BIAL will implement this service in another six months. On implementation of this service, Commuters can check-in through the airline’s site on their mobile and get a two-dimensional encrypted bar code. The commuters has to produced and get their bar code scanned at the air port. After getting their bar code scanned, they can directly board into their flight.
