Acute power shortage brings in huge loss
Karnataka state alone has spent around Rs 3,847 crore to buy power since 2010!
This is a huge sum where the state could have built a brand-new 800-1,000MW thermal plant utilizing the same budget.
Again summer is back and the state is planning ahead and the cabinet has decided to buy 1,290MW daily upto the month of June this year.
According to power experts in Bangalore, average power purchased for the year 2011-12 will come around 930 MW per day cost of Rs 4.87 per unit.
However, it has been learnt that poor planning and postpone of power plant projects has lead to acute power shortage! It is high time that the government should plan well before power crisis is faced.
