Outer Ring Road in Chennai will be next business hub
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has planned to develop a satellite commercial corridor along the proposed Outer Ring Road. It is a 62-km six lane state highway connecting Vandalur in the south with Minjur in the north.
CMDA also planned to appoint a consultant to evaluate the commercial potential and suggest a road map for developing the 750 acres of land along the ORR.
The municipality has acquired the entire land for the first phase. The remaining places will be acquired in the second phase connecting Nemilichery and Minjur.
Many builders have acquired large tracts of land along the ORR for future development. The place will see maximum real estate growth in the future because prices there are very low at present.
Still, the CMDA needs to finalize a detailed master plan for the ORR such that all interior areas also see organized development. Otherwise, the ORR will witness a linear growth like the Old Mahabalipuram Road and interior areas will never get attention.
