Lagging centre-funded urban plans in Delhi
New Delhi- The CAG’s performance audit of JNNURM was tabled covering the mission period of 2005-2011 on Thursday.
A report based on the assessments which were conducted between April to November 2011 through test-check of records of ministries such as urban development, housing and urban poverty alleviation followed by various agencies of 25 states and five union territories was also submitted.
The report however stated the loopholes and troubles involved in the execution of the projects and it specifically had an entire chapter describing the delay in completion of road projects in Delhi based on the implementation of urban infrastructure projects. Out of the road and bridge projects which were approved under the JNNURM for Delhi, there were four of them chosen by the auditors for the security.
According to the audit reports, there were merely Rs. 381.23 crore spent on the construction of the bridge and the completion date of the project is given as December 17, 2011. However, the date has been revised to December 19, 2013.
