ICAI team to examine land purchase in Nagpur
Nagpur- On December 20, a six member committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will visit the nine acre land at Luxora Township in Pipla in order to investigate its purchase decision for Rs 99 crore.
The final papers will be put forward on December 31. The land Luxora Township was purchased to construct ICAI centre of excellence.
However, head of ICAI, Jaideep Shah is not happy with this decision. He feels that the fees of the students is misused as it is just a soft skills training institute. A more cheaper property in Nagpur could be purchased at the center of the city. Other CAs also agreed with his thought.
All these led to the formation of the committee to visit the site and examine various aspects. The committee members are also part of the ICAI’s central council. Shah clarified and requested not to go by slant version of facts by ICAI website which was found misleading to others during examination.
The central council elections are to be held in December 2012 followed by by results within a week. If any member loses election it will lead to alterations in the fact finding committee. Thus the members have to finish the examination within February.
