MCG shortly to install house numbers in approved 39 colonies
Gurgaon- Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is all set to get permanent numbers to houses that are part of the 39 colonies that have been approved by the state government.
Several councillors representing the wards in Gurgaon old city have been demanding for house identification numbers from past two years. Since there are no house numbers currently in the city, it has been very difficult to identify properties in Gurgaon.
Finally, the Corporation has decided to install proper number plates to around 40,000 houses. Along with the house number, number plates will also include the ward number and other crucial details like street, khasra number and colony name. In this regard, MCG is planning to issue a tender inviting private agencies to make number plates for houses.
This will be a pilot project covering 40,000 houses in Gurgaon belonging to 39 approved colonies. Although other councilors are demanding for house numbers to the houses in unapproved colonies too, without the approval from state government, the work will not be taken up.
MCG officials said that Faridabad too has a similar project in progress. But the number plates contract will not be given to the same agency which is already doing the similar work at Faridabad. The contract will be given only to a fresh agency, officials added.
