Noida builders face warning for using groundwater
A private developer in Noida has been landed in trouble for violating the National Green Tribunal’s order, as the NGT has banned the extraction of ground water for construction activities.
Noida Authority has set up a task force to examine few sites of the private developers to stop pulling out the groundwater for use. They have found a private developer in Sector 93B is breaching the order, hence by evening the designated task force has dismantled the borewell used by the developer.
The extraction of ground water has been banned in Noida and Greater Noida until the next hearing on February 8.
From last few days, the task force is inspecting several sites of private builders along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, to find out if the developers are following the tribunal’s order or not. A nodal officer of the task force has mentioned the incident of Sector 93B, where a private builder was using a borewell to fetch the groundwater.
Although they have dismantled it, they found builder using it again on Sunday. Later, they had to give a strict warning to the same developer for not obeying the order. They have dismantled the borewell again and ordered not to use it anymore. Developer was not available to get any kind of reply regarding the issue.
The task force is a four member team. It includes an engineer and a police person and are haphazardly visiting the sites, without any prior notice. They are taking pictures and videos as evidences whether the developers are using underground water.
