Bangalore flower show lures visitors

Everyday close to 70,000 people have been thronging the Lal Bagh to witness eye-catching floral beauty. Lal Bagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore built on the architectural lines of Mughal Garden, has on display some very rare species of flowers and plants. Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens host special flower shows during India’s Republic Day and Independence Day. The major attraction at this show is a replica of India Gate, Delhi’s famous monument and War Memorial created with 2.5 lakh roses in the glass house.

The event commenced on Friday and will be open to public till India’s Independence Day on August 15. People thronged the annual flower show organized by the Department of Horticulture at the Lal Bagh Gardens Bangalore. Floral Fest’ is the theme for the flower show and the aim is to bring people together to enjoy nature and know more about flowers and plants grown in and around the city.



Entry tickets are priced at Rs 30 for weekdays (Monday to Friday) and Rs 40 will be charged for weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Children within the age of 6 to 12 years have to pay Rs 10 for entry tickets. On August 13, school children will be given a free entry for the day. There is no extra fee charged for the use video  cameras and still cameras in the gardens.

The garden can accommodate more than 3,000 two-wheelers and close to 2,500 four-wheelers. Special parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles. The Double Road gate will have entry only for two-wheelers and four-wheelers can enter from the Siddapura Gate. The parking fee of Rs 10 for four-wheelers and Rs 5 for two-wheelers will be charged in addition to the entry fee.  Entry for auto-rickshaws and buses is restricted in the premises of Lalbagh.

The major attraction at this year’s Independence Day flower show is a scaled model of India Gate created with 2.5 lakh roses. The flower show brings people together to witness eye-catching floral beauty and know more about flowers and plants grown in and around the city.
