The builder had rented out a high-rise building in Himayatnagar without taking occupancy certificate from the GHMC and also not complying with fire safety norms. The developer of Maheshwari Mega Ventures had taken permission for two cellars, ground and six upper floors in November, 2008. After completion of the building, the builder rented out the ground floor to Brand Factory and first floor to Reliance Digital Retail Limited. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday sealed the building for not taking occupancy certificate (OC) and also not complying with fire safety norms.

According to GHMC Circle 9 assistant city planner (ACP) G Rajeshwar, developer Rajkumar Malpani of Maheshwari Mega Ventures had taken permission for two cellars, ground and six upper floors in November, 2008.

Officials said the developers had earlier encroached upon road portion and that was removed in November 2010 on the directions of the then GHMC commissioner Sameer Sharma.

Meanwhile, property owners Safiuddin Junaid and others, who gave the land for development to Maheshwarai Mega Ventures, complained at the Face-to-Face meeting on July 2 that the builder had rented out the building without taking occupancy certificate from the GHMC and also did not take a final No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire services department.

The owners said the developer had violated the High Court orders and went on construction as there was dispute over the said property development. The complainant said they made several rounds to the GHMC circle offices and also met officers to take action against the builder, but nothing has happened so far.

GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu pulled up the town planning officials at the meeting and directed them to act immediately. Based on his directions, the town planning officials sealed the building.
