MCG Gurgaon Directed the Disposal of Sewage in STPs

No Comments Sub Category:Community Posted On: Jul 07, 2011

The Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) commissioner has called a meeting regarding the disposal of sewage in open drains and vacant areas on Thursday and has also asked the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) officials concerned to attend to the problems. It has been brought to the notice of civic bodies by RWAs and individuals that the sewage is being dumped in vacant plots and elsewhere by the contractors.

Fearing an outbreak of epidemic, the MCG has written to HUDA asking it to dispose of waste in its sewage treatment plants (STP) at Dhanwapur and Behrampur, instead of letting them rot in vacant plots. The MCG has requested HUDA to make arrangements for disposing of the sewage in five tankers by July 7.

Many private colonies also allege that they are not connected to the main trunk line and are disposing of waste on their own. Keeping the present situation in mind, the MCG commissioner had earlier passed an order under section 292 (1) of Haryana Municipal Corporation Act (1994), prohibiting the disposal of sewage anywhere other than in places designated by the principal originator and the tanker contractor.
