RWA meet over Savitri Cinema Opening
The opening of upcoming Savitri Cinema at Greater Kailash – II has been a source of discord with residents alleging it would result in traffic chaos and parking problems. A meeting was organised regarding this between representatives of more than 30 residents welfare associations (RWAs), officials from various civic agencies and police about the issue. Officials of the Savitri Cinema were also present.
The meeting, which was held after directions from the L-G’s office, was chaired by Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
“The traffic situation at present is unmanageable. If the mall-cum-cinema complex opens up, then it will only worsen the existing problem. Even now, it takes nearly 20 minutes to cross the area during non peak hours. We have learnt that the builder is planning to open the complex shortly and we are against it. We hope a decision in our favour is taken soon,” said Chetan Sharma, chairman, Federation of GK-II Complex RWAs.
