Income tax Dept looking into cheques to captian Dhoni by Amrapali group
The India cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may face problem now in an income tax investigation. The tax department is looking to investigate the issue of four post-dated cheques worth Rs 75 crore issued by Amrapali Group.

The cheque issued in year 2011-12, was to be encashed in 2014. The Indian captain Dhoni is the brand ambassador of of Amrapali while his wife Sakshi Singh Rawat holds a 25 per cent share in Amrapali Mahi Developers Private Ltd which is joint venture between the company and the Indian captain.
A source in Amrapali says that the IT department had asked for the details of the company after the raid in August 2013 on Amrapali group offices in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Company official concluded that the investigation is being led by the Ranchi unit and the captain of Indian cricket will be contacted soon.
Dhoni’s spokesperson says that the security on the investment made by Dhoni in Amrapali Mahi Developers. The Amrapali group concluded that the money was given as the assurance and commitment” for a cricket academy in Ranchi to be developed by the Amrapali Mahi Developers.
Mr. Arun Pandey, spokesperson of Dhoni, says that he was aware of the financial matters of M S Dhoni but as per his knowledge, Anil Sharma has given cheques to M S Dhoni as security of the investment made by M S Dhoni in Amrapali.
The company spokesperson says that Dhoni gets the cheque as an assurance and commitment to the project. Dhoni has refused to take the check as the development process is not started yet.
Mr. Anil Sharma who is Chairman of Amrapali group, is also JD(U) Lok Sabha candidate from Jehanabad.
