GHMC Hyderabad to Collect Property Tax through Hand-Held Machines
The tax wing staff have been collecting property tax dues either in the form of cash or cheques from property owners and giving manual receipts. There were instances of some staff issuing fake receipts to owners by collecting the amount.
Now, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will collect property tax through hand-held machines in Kapra circle from Friday. The system is being implemented in Kapra on an experimental basis and would be extended to other municipal circles in a phased manner. GHMC special commissioner Navin Mittal handed over the hand-held machines to tax wing staff at a function on Thursday.
As the hand-held machines are directly connected to head office servers, GHMC officials said there would not be any scope for manipulation and other malpractices in the collection and handing over of property tax.
