CM reviewed Housing Programme being taken up by GHMC Hyderabad
The chief minister N Kiran Kumar reviewed the developmental works and activities being taken up by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), including the housing programme. Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the GHMC to complete the houses under different schemes at the earliest with the cooperation of the beneficiaries, banks and other agencies. He also asked the GHMC to speed up the ‘Slum-Free Hyderabad’ project under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) and asked the officials to provide drinking water, power and other infrastructure facilities to the housing colonies.
GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu informed the chief minister that various works would be taken up at a cost of Rs 813 crore for the City Level Infrastructure Programme. He said construction of flyovers, rail over bridges and road under bridges at Tolichowki, Amberpet (Che Number junction and Sri Ramana theatre), Balanagar & Narsapur junction and Ashok Nagar bridge would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 294 crore. He said permission of defence authorities was required to take up the RuB in Safilguda. He said development of parks at Vasanth Nagar, Rock Garden, Shapur, Quthbullapur, Mir Alam Tank improvements, Errakunta cheruvu at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday asked the GHMC commissioner to chalk out a second round of ‘100 Days Action Plan‘ for the Greater Hyderabad area to implement after the monsoon.
The chief minister also agreed in principle to the plea by the municipal corporation to hand over the collection of professional tax to the civic body in its jurisdiction. GHMC officials claimed that the chief minister also agreed to give 10% of vehicle tax to the corporation.
While expressing concern over the increasing unauthorized constructions in the city, Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials to take stringent action against town planning officials, who allow illegal constructions in their jurisdiction.
