High Court Orders Panel Link Road to BIA

1 Comment Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Sep 16, 2011
The dispute regarding construction of a link road to Bangalore International Airport (BIA) via University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) campus in Bangalore has been discussed by the Karnataka high court directed by the state government to set up a committee headed by the chief secretary. BBMP has been restrained from proceeding with the construction on the link road. BBMP from now onwards will act as per the decisions of the committee. The petitioners are permitted to present their views by writing to the committee and also produce relevant documents. The petitioners can also challenge the decision of the committee if they are not contended with the decisions made by the High Court.
The petitioners claimed that the proposed link road would affect the biodiversity of the university campus and the projects concerned to it. However the BBMP claimed that there was no connectivity to several villages surrounding the university campus and henceforth the Yelahanka road and Bellary road will greatly ease the traffic. The main aspect that requires to be noticed is that the dispute is mainly between the university and BBMP which is similar to the inter-departmental dispute in the government.
