Gurgaon Residents reel Under constant Power Cuts

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Oct 21, 2011

Residents in Gurgaon are reeling under frequent power cuts. The condition is so pathetic in certain places that there is no power for nearly six hours a day. The acute power shortage can be blamed for the technical failures in three power plants namely Yamuna Nagar, Panipat and Khedar. The failure to generate electricity in these three power plants has seriously hampered the total power production in the region. As a matter of fact there is a decline of nearly fifty percent of the production.

Officials of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam Limited (DHBVN) have said that the power cuts are due to the inability to generate adequate power in these stations and power supply can be restored once the technical snags are sorted out. They remarked that the three power stations together generated over 3,600MW but at present they are generating just 1,758 MW, which is way far less than what is required.

Residents are highly frustrated at the frequent power cuts which is also creating water problems especially when Diwali is round the corner.
