Students watch to tackle garbage in Mumbai
To tackle the menace of garbage littered in every corner in Mumbai. The students of Guru Nanak College in Sion-Koliwada has come up with novel plan of embarrassing litterers to control the menace. The move will definitely do away with the garbage dumped in the streets but will also put a curb on the regular dumpers. The plan is to identify the regular litterers and confront them in their home to shame them.
The move is showing promising signs as lately there has been a drastic reduction on the amount of wastes in an around the area. The streets are cleaner than usual and people are tacking the care of dumping the wastes in the waste bins provided for the purpose. Earlier a group of boys have maintained a vigil in the neighborhood for three consecutive days. They identified the residents who had dumped their wastes in the streets and approached to them to make them aware of the necessity to keep their neighbourhood clean. The students had also approached shops and hotels for this purpose.
