Heavy Lorry Load pulls down 1962 built Bridge in Ranchi

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Nov 08, 2011

The iron structure bridge at Ranchi served as a lifeline at the Bermo subdivision paving way for more than 700 vehicles over it everyday. The incident happened duly because of the lorry carrying heavy loads to Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) mines in the same area. The has the over all capacity of bearing 20 tonnes of lorry weight at a time, however the lorry used to carry more than 100 tonnes of load on this bridge everyday. The bridge seems to have been built in the year 1962 by Kumardhubi Engineering Works Limited. Traffic conditions in these roads have turned situation from bad to worse.

The residents reported saying that even though the CCL knows the prevailing condition of the bridge they are not even bothered to re-construct or even proper the bridge. Meanwhile the bridge route has been closed for repair works even though there is no one bothered to repair the bridge and the commuters seem to be taking longer routes to reach their place of work. The residents are lodging on-going complaints to the government authorities but they haven’t received any response yet.
