Aadhaar numbers to be on univ degrees and birth certificates
New Delhi- With the Aadhar card becoming a major document, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit wants the Aadhar card number on every individual’s university degrees and birth certificates.
This proposal was declared on Thursday when Dikshit stated about the addition of the nine centrally-sponsored schemes which were related to the capital and the scheme of Aadhar enabled direct cash transfer. This scheme will be effective by April this year.
A workshop which was conducted on Aadhaar-enabled direct cash transfer had Dikshit addressing the people about the Aadhar card details. She also mentioned that by next month, the city would achieve 95 percent of Aadhaar enrollment targets.
January 1, which saw the launch of the Aadhaar-enabled direct cash transfer also had the four of the nine centrally-sponsored schemes in two districts — Northwest and Northeast already being implemented in the city.
As per Dikshit, the work of including Aadhaar numbers on university degrees and birth certificates will be started by the concerned departments very soon.
Aadhar number is quite important and unique for every individual and remains valid throughout the life. It further helps in procuring services and to eradicate bogus beneficiaries and duplication.
