Aadhar cardHyderabad – With the announcement of extended deadline (March 15, 2013) for linking supply of subsidy domestic gas cylinders with Aadhaar, once again people queued at the Aadhar card centres.

But the enrollment process in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts are going at snail’s pace. Thus the concerned authorities are slated to extend the deadline by a few more weeks.

The initial deadline of this scheme was February 15, 2013 but the state government requested to extend this deadline since most of the people in the state did not receive their Aadhaar cards.

People were facing many problems like limited registration centers, insufficient staff and application forms. The applications downloaded from internet was not accepted by the staff members of the center. Additionally, the entire process of applying for Aadhar card is very time consuming.

Thus, the Central government and oil companies jointly decided to extend this deadline to March, 15, 2013. Government assured that 150 Aadhar registration centres will be opened in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts and also the process of linking LPG to Aadhaar card will be offered online very soon.

The five districts in state where this pilot project is being implemented are Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Anantapur, Chittoor, and East Godavari. The oil companies involved in this subsidy scheme are Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation.

It was found that only 28 percent of the LPG consumers of these three companies have got their Aadhaar cards linked with their gas connections in Hyderabad and Rangareddy. While it is 48 percent in other three districts of the state. The sources confirmed this situation will surely result in extension of deadline beyond March 15 in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.

There will be no extension of deadline in Anantapur, Chittoor, and East Godavari. Moreover, these three districts will join Mysore (Karnataka), Puducherry and Wardha (Maharashtra) in the list of first districts where LPG subsidy will be linked to Aadhaar cards.
