Akharas protest delay in allotment of land
Allahabad- Due to the delay in allotment of land sanctioned to Akharas, members of Akhara Parishad and saints of Juna Akhara lodged a protest to Mela officer on 11th December 2012.
This allotted land was sanctioned to Mahamandaleshwar. With just one month left to Kumbh Mela, many such complains were also registered by members of Vaishnava saints too.
Mela officer Mani Prasad Mishra confirmed that allotment of land to Mahamandaleshwars will be done on 12 December while those to Vaishnava saints from December 14.
For obtaining compliance with demand of Congress workers regarding mismanagement and rampant corruption in works of Kumbh Mela, the members conducted fasting at the office door of Mela officer. They also shouted slogans with placards and banners to draw the attention of authorities.
Congress Leader Tariq Saeed pointed out the delay in process of allotment to kalpavasis. The worker also claimed about the inadequate facilities provided to pilgrims. At last the protesters gave a written note to Mela authorities regarding this issue.
