Bangalore faces shortage of security guards
Agencies providing security for the city’s private and the public sector including apartments are facing severe shortage in manpower.
The reason for the shortage is that the states from where the city agencies recruit manpower have launched various welfare schemes targeted at young men to migrate to other cities in search of jobs.
A huge number of workforce went back to their respective states. President of Karnataka Security Services Association said that most of the private security personnel are from Orissa and Tamil Nadu and are returning to their natives because of the introduction of welfare scheme in Tamil Nadu and industrialization in Orissa, due to which there is a scarcity of manpower. There is a big gap between the demand and supply in the state’s private security manpower market.
The huge number of security personnel has also given rise to another problem – that of police verification, which is a time-consuming process as every individual’s background needs to be thoroughly checked. Mainly verification process for outstation personnel, especially from the north-east, is very difficult and time-consuming.
More and more companies in want to hire private security guards now for safely and security purpose. The demand for security guards has increased now and on the other hand, the supply of manpower has decreased.
Most of the locals don’t opt for security jobs though they prefer doing something else that pays less. They feel degraded wearing security personnel’s uniform. This is the reason why the Bangalore agencies have to rely on outstation workforce for their private security forces.
